
Shepherd’s Pie
Nothing says comfort like a home cooked meal. This recipe is delicious, quick and amazingly simple and is sure to be a hit at any gathering at the dinner table.
Equipment
- Cutting Board
- Chef Knife
- Pot
- Strainer
- Saute Pan
- Baking Dish
- Heat resistant spoon/spatula
- Ziploc Bag or Piping Bag
- Potato Masher
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb Ground Beef
- 1/4 each Onion diced
- 1 clove Garlic minced
- 1 Tbsp Thyme chopped
- 1 each Carrot peeled and diced
- 6 oz Green Beans thawed
- 1 Tbsp Flour
- 12 oz Stock
- 2 each Potatoes
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- 1/4-1/2 cup Milk whole or 2%
- 2 oz cheese shredded
- Salt as needed
- Pepper as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F
- Make mashed potatoes by cooking them in a pot of water, draining them and mash with milk, butter, salt and pepper.
- Heat a saute pan on medium high, add in the ground meat and season. Cook 4 minutes and break up the meat while it browns.
- Add in the onion, carrot, garlic, green beans and herbs. Cook 3-5 minutes. Stir in the flour and then the stock.
- Bring to a boil and reduce sauce until its a bit thicker but not to thick.
- Pour mixture into a baking dish and either spread or pipe the mashed potatoes on top. Top mashed potatoes with shredded cheese and bake 20-30 minutes
