Classic Waffle Breakfast

Waffle Batter

A traditional breakfast staple. This is our base recipe that is super versatile for adding in additions throughout the seasons of the year.

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Bowl or Container for wet ingredients

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Butter melted
  • 1 cup Milk whole
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 3 each Eggs

Instructions
 

  • Measure all dry ingredients together in one bowl.
  • Mix all wet ingredients together.
  • Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry. Stir until fully combined.
  • Set in the fridge to hold until needed, or heat a waffle iron and cook them per the waffle irons instructions.

Notes

For Allergies
Gluten Free:
Swap out the flour to be gluten free (Bobs Red Mill is great).
Egg Free:
Swap out the eggs for either liquid eggs (not soy free) or egg replacer.
Dairy Free:
Swap out the butter for earthbalance and the milk and cream for either almond, soy, rice, or coconut milk.
This recipe is already peanut, treenut, soy, fish, shellfish and sesame free. Make sure to double check your ingredients while shopping to check for cross contamination possibilities.

  • 1 Bowl of Waffle Batter see batter recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 4 each Waffles if a traditional maker, if minis about 3 per serving
  • 8 each Sausage Links
  • 8 each Eggs cracked and beaten
  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • Kosher Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 2 cups Fruit your choice: berries, melon, grapes

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Arrange sausage on a sheet tray and cook the in the oven about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • Pour the waffle batter onto the preheated iron according to the waffle iron's instructions. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  • While the waffles and sausage are cooking, prepare the fruit by washing, slicing, or dicing as needed. Arrange the fruit on a serving platter or individual plates.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Heat a sauté pant over medium-low heat and melt the butter. Pour the beaten eggs into the skillet and cook, stirring gently, until they are scrambled to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.
  • Arrange the cooked sausages and scrambled eggs alongside the waffles and fruit.
